Far more famous for its double soundtrack than as an actual film, Times Square (1980) is a story of friendship (and implied romance) between two young women under observation for mental conditions who escape to the world of punk rock. Top-billed Tim Curry (who shot his role in two days) appears as a DJ, but the film belongs to its young stars who have a more obvious love story in the original cut. The priceless footage of a seedy Times Square and the classic songs by the likes of Suzi Quatro, The Cure, Patti Smith and The Ramones are also highlights of this cult classic.
