It’s the return of our F**K THE NAZIS repertory series.
This series first originated when one of us was flipping channels and caught the Blues Brothers on TCM for the umpteenth time–and that scene with the Illinois Nazis being chased off the bridge–it was just so viscerally pleasing to watch.
Nazis are perhaps the ultimate bad guys in movies, and have been for almost as long as their flaccid little ethos has been around. But then you look at the news and see all these neo-Nazis popping up around the country, and even in Boston, you realize there’s still a bunch of braindead human turds who believe in that crap. It’s more prominent now than it has been in generations, coupled with a rise in antisemitism.
The shorthand in movies is that if you see a Nazi on screen, he’s the bad guy, but now you’ve got a growing pool of young idiots who would look at that Nazi and not think that way. So it’s time to remind everyone that there are few things more entertaining than watching a Nazi bastard get their just desserts on a big screen.
These movies range from serious classic dramas to comedies to the utterly ridiculous. Our first iteration of the series was popular enough that we decided a return would be both entertaining and sadly very needed. This year we’ve even added some family friendly titles on two Sunday matinees, because fighting Nazis can be for the whole family!
And yeah, Jake and Elwood are gonna be there too, pushing those Illinois Nazis right off that bridge, so stay tuned!
